I understand that hospitals tend to get a pretty rough deal when it comes to reviews like these (you're dealing with a lot of unhappy people, and it's generally the unhappiest who are passionate enough to get on here and leave their thoughts), but after having visited the CEHHC once again this week, I felt like I had to say something.

I had day surgery today the nurses were the best I ever had. They were the most professional people I have ever had the misfortune of meeting in a good way. Hospitals usually get a bad rap and,I just want to say it's not the personal, in my experience they were the greatest. I really would appreciate it if you could pass the message along to them, they definitely deserve a pat on the back!!!

The worst. I showed up needing stitches on my eye after a rugby accident, I was with my girlfriend, sister and mother. I waited 3 hours in a semi empty room while scheduled appointments showed up for routine procedures such as cast removal. After 3 hours I received a call that my best friend had passed away in Halifax. After a cry I informed the triage nurse, who did not care and informed me I'd be at least another hour. After 10 minutes of discussion we left for Halifax and went to the QEII. We got in immediately and were treated with compassion, my doctor was able to comfort me and knew about my friend who the other doctors worked on hours before. The stitches took 5 minutes.

It's true that the service at the CEHHC is often slower than anybody (staff or patient) would like, but this just seems to be a fact of life here in Nova Scotia, and I've come to accept that. However, what I'm happy to say is that I've received excellent, informed, compassionate service nearly every time I've visited this hospital, and I feel incredibly lucky to have such wonderful people staffing a state-of-the-art facility in my community.

Extremely rude, scolding &bullying behaviour at MRI registration desk. When you work in a hospital or government service you are not there being paid by the taxpayer (me) to teach people a lesson they'll never forget.

Seeing elderly people stand for 30+ minutes waiting for their bloodwork is repulsive. Also, when I make an appointment, I expect that I'll get in within 30 minutes of the appointment time, not over an hour later. Ridiculous.

I've lived in Truro for the last few years, and one way or another, I always seem to end up at the hospital a few times each year for something or other. I've relied on this hospital and its staff for routine checkups, prescriptions for a couple of really nasty bugs, and more than one emergency check-in.
